Pakistan Parliamentary Election, Two Major Parties Compete

Although after the ouster of Imran Khan from the post of Prime Minister, a coalition government was formed between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Party and the Pakistan People's Party as well as a number of religious and small parties, these two important Pakistani parties are trying to win the most parliamentary seats and form the next government alone. It seems that the Muslim League-Nawaz Party is trying to bring former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, into the electoral field, so that the election results can be in their favor. Abbas Fayyaz, a political issues expert, said, in all periods since Pakistan's independence in 1947, general elections in Pakistan have been very important, but it seems that the upcoming parliamentary elections in Pakistan will be even more important because of the breakdown of the country's relations with the United States (US) and also with the Taliban in Afghanistan, so that the future Pakistani government must be able to manage its foreign relations. It seems that Pakistan's upcoming parliamentary elections are facing challenges. The most important challenge is the issue of the presence in the elections of Mohammed Nawaz Sharif, who had just returned to Pakistan from London. Although the Muslim League-Nawaz nominated Mohammad Nawaz Sharif as a candidate for Prime Minister, but due to the court decision that he is prohibited from carrying out any political activities, his participation in the elections will require a court decision overturning the previous decision. The next problem is the condition of Imran Khan who is imprisoned for various reasons, including corruption. Recently, the court accepted bail for several crimes of Imran Khan. Even though Imran Khan has registered to participate in the elections, his presence in these elections is still unclear and it is unlikely that the court will do so. On the other hand, the court is also unlikely to be able to vote on Sharif's participation in the elections without striking a balance in the cases of Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif. The next challenge in the upcoming elections in Pakistan is problems related to electoral districts and exact data on voters cannot yet be determined, so the elections will be held late. Morteza Haider, a political issues expert, said that the upcoming elections in Pakistan are very important because of economic problems and the problem of illegal immigrants which to some extent have influenced the position of the Pakistani government. These issues can affect the election process and general government deliberations, which are influenced by military decisions. Pakistan is preparing to hold general elections as the country faces security challenges with Pakistan's neighboring countries in recent months, as well as with the US in the international arena. The issue of deportation of illegal immigrants also affects relations between Pakistan and the Taliban. Therefore, Pakistan needs a government that can overcome all these challenges. Therefore, the people of Pakistan will witness intense competition between the two parties Muslim League and People's Party. Regarding parties like the Tehreek-e-Insaf whose leader, Imran Khan, was jailed and whose government was removed from power, if the court does not consider the Tehreek-e-Insaf's participation in the elections, then they are not allowed to participate in the elections. Considering Imran Khan's social position, this issue could influence the election process. As many people have said, one of the important reasons the court issued a prison sentence against Imran Khan was to remove Khan from the electoral arena. Now it seems that thanks to Mohammed Nawaz Sharif's efforts to participate in the elections, the electoral arena is changing in a different way. (RA)
