Palestinian prisoners on indefinite hunger strike
Palestinian prisoners held under the so-called administrative detention, without charge or trial, by the Zionist regime, are planning a mass hunger strike. The protest action will begin next Sunday, June 18, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported on Monday, citing the Palestinian Prisoners' Administrative Committee. Palestinian detainees will also continue to boycott the regime's courts "as a means of drawing attention to the violation of their rights," the committee added.
He noted that the detainees' main demand is for the regime to end its practice of administrative detention, while also seeking to force "Israel to comply with its obligations under international humanitarian and human rights law." Under its administrative detention policy, the occupying regime holds Palestinians without trial or charge for up to six months; a period that can be extended an indefinite number of times.
