Panic will spread in Niger after ECOWAS decided the date to attack the country
The capital of Niger, Niamey, is witnessing a great movement and agitation by the army and citizens who support the leaders of the revolution opposing the possible military intervention of the member countries of the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) in the country. The shock has begun to be witnessed one day after the group's military leaders decided on the date of military intervention in Niger in order to supposedly restore constitutional rule. Reports say, the heads of the armies of Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso have held a meeting in Niamey as part of efforts to deal with any military attack by ECOWAS forces. The heads of the armed forces of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger met to discuss a joint defense strategy, in response to ECOWAS' declaration of readiness to intervene militarily in Niger.
In that context, the Minister of Defense of Burkina Faso, Kassoum Coulibaly, has announced his country's readiness to face the military aggression of the ECOWAS group in Niger. Coulibaly has expressed his country's opposition to any "sabotage" against Niger, announcing that Ouagadougou is ready to withdraw from the ECOWAS group, which he said is irrational in its policy regarding Niger. The Minister of Defense of Burkina Faso has said that it is sad to see some countries in the West African region supporting the option of war under the pretext of democracy.
