Pressure to end arms sales to Israel is growing in the West

Parliamentarians and officials of Western countries continue to call for the cessation of arms sales to Israel due to the genocide carried out by the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip for 6 months, which has so far killed more than 33,000 Palestinian martyrs and injuring 75,000 more since October 7 last year.

Pressure to end arms sales to Israel is growing in the West

In France, 115 members of parliament have sent a letter to President Emmanuel Macron asking him to stop all arms sales to the brutal Israeli regime and warning that not taking that step makes France an accomplice in the genocide against the Palestinian people.

The parliamentarians have said that stopping the sale of all types of weapons to the right-wing extremist government of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, will strengthen peace efforts in the West Asian region.

The parliamentarians have asked Macron to follow the example of other countries such as Canada and the Netherlands that have taken decisions to ban the sale of arms to Israel due to the killings taking place in the Gaza Strip.

In their letter, the MPs have reminded the French President that the number of people killed in Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip will exceed 33,000 in the coming days. They have also reminded him that the International Court of Justice in January of this year decided that there was a risk of genocide in Gaza, and called on Israel to prevent it.

Also in Germany, a group of lawyers and lawyers announced last Friday, to open an emergency case against the German government to force it to stop the sale of weapons to Israel, on the suspicion that the weapons "are being used in serious violations of international law."

This is the second case presented by the lawyers in court against the German government.

In their accusations, the lawyers have relied on several factors, including that Germany has been the largest European supplier of arms to the brutal Israeli regime, and that the value of German weapons sent to Israel reached approximately 326 million euros in 2023, most of them after October 7, when Germany increased arms sales to Israel by about 10 times.

Western countries should stop providing weapons to the illegal regime of Israel

At the same time, on Friday this week, the congressman and former speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, signed a letter sent to President Joe Biden and his Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, calling for the cessation of operations to deliver weapons to the regime of Israel.

The letter was signed by 40 Democratic representatives, and said: "In light of the recent killings of humanitarian aid workers and the plight of the people of Gaza, we believe it is unjust to authorize the sending of weapons to Israel."

It will also be remembered that, the other day on Friday, the Human Rights Council of the United Nations adopted a resolution to ban the export of weapons to Israel due to the continuing war of the brutal regime against the people of the Gaza Strip. This is the first position taken by the UN council regarding the war against Gaza.
