Putin: Do we have a chance to exist in the next 10 thousand years?
Russian President Vladimir Putin asked during a video conference during the launch ceremony of the new winter complex of the Russian "Vostok" station in Antarctica with the participation of the presidents of Russia and Belarus, whether humanity has a chance to exist in the next 10 thousand years, "Российская газета" reports.
During his speech, Putin noted that the unique technologies of deep drilling of glaciers, which were developed back in the 70s, provided information that there were 4 complete climate cycles from warming to freezing over the past 420,000 years. In turn, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, was interested in what era humanity is in. "It would be interesting to know in what period and at what point we are and at what moment that freezing or warming will occur... I really want not only us, but also the planet to exist," the President of Belarus expressed his hope. In turn, Putin was interested. "Does humanity have a chance to exist in the next 10,000 years?" The leaders of the two countries were reassured by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia, Alexander Kozlov. "We are in the interglacial period, and this guarantees 20 thousand years of warmth. We have already passed 10,000, we still have 10,000 years of warmth guaranteed," he said. "It's normal, everything is fine," responded the Russian President.
