We offered Azerbaijan to sign a non-aggression pact.

The entrenched ideas about security systems played a disastrous game on our heads and there is no other option for RA than diversification of security relations.

We offered Azerbaijan to sign a non-aggression pact.
We offered Azerbaijan to sign a non-aggression pact.

RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan appeared during the festive event dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the RA Army, calling to review our strategic ideas. " We are on the path of acquiring new and modern weapons and equipment, and in recent years the RA government has signed contracts to purchase arms and ammunition worth several billion dollars. The RA military-industrial complex has an unprecedented order of several hundred million dollars from the RA government, and of course, we will continue to invest in the military-industrial complex, simultaneously increasing the funding of science and education," assured the RA Prime Minister. From the point of view of ensuring security, according to him, there are two key factors: foreign relations and the legitimacy of policies conducted from the point of view of international law. RA should identify itself with the territory on which it was recognized by the international community. It is the territory of the Armenian SSR, which is identical to the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. We must state clearly and unequivocally that we do not and will not have any ambitions for any other territory, and this should become the strategic basis for ensuring Armenia's external security," he clarified. Pashinyan also referred to the aggressive statements from Azerbaijan regarding the reforms of the RA army, acquisition of weapons and equipment. " Having a strong and capable army is the sovereign right of every country, and no one can question that right of ours. If anyone questions that right of ours, they question our right to exist. In this case, we will have no choice but to protect our statehood, our independence, our territorial integrity by all possible and impossible means," he emphasized. The RA Prime Minister assured that the Armenian side has offered several mechanisms of security guarantees to Azerbaijan. For example, a mirror withdrawal of troops to the administrative border of the Armenian SSR and the Azerbaijani SSR. According to him, that limit was in 1991. With the declaration of Alma-Ata, the state border was raised and Armenia and Azerbaijan will be united in 2022. On October 6, in Prague, they agreed that they recognize each other's territorial integrity on that basis. According to Pashinyan, the mirror withdrawal of troops will make it possible for all the territories of the Azerbaijan SSR to be under the control of Azerbaijan, and all the territories of the Armenian SSR under the control of Armenia. In addition, according to him, RA offered Azerbaijan demilitarization of the border, that is, demilitarization. In this context, Pashinyan reminded about his offer to Azerbaijan - the mechanism of mutual arms control. " Also, I proposed signing a non-aggression pact if it turns out that the signing of the peace treaty will take longer than expected," the RA Prime Minister announced. He once again reminded that RA is committed to the peace agenda and will not deviate from that agenda.
