Refugee Crisis on the Mexican Border
The President of Mexico announced that the migration situation on this country's border with the United States is very critical.
Mexico's president has criticized American policy and recently said that Washington should use some of the aid it spent on the war in Ukraine for economic development in Latin America.
Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, President of Mexico said, Economic sanctions by Washington have forced people to emigrate from Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.According to a Reuters report, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, President of Mexico announced on Monday (02/10/2023), that around 10,000 asylum seekers were reaching the American border every day.
"We are witnessing the arrival of 6,000 refugees every day from the southern border. However, the number of people reaching our northern border is also much higher," added the Mexican President.
The Mexican President emphasized, We must look for solutions to the root of the refugee problem, especially in the study of work and a better life. What we need is to create a bridge of communication and mutual understanding so that people no longer need to migrate.
Due to its long border with the United States, Mexico hosts hundreds of thousands of refugees each year who attempt to enter the United States.
