Relations with the West are important, but not at the expense of Russia

Relations with the West should be developed, but not at the expense, and especially not against, Russia. Today,   Andranik Tevanyan, leader of the Mother Armenia party, said at the Sputnik Armenia multimedia press center.

He emphasized that the ultimate goal of their visit to Donbas last year, although humanitarian, was also a political message: not everyone in Armenia thinks the same way as the government led by Nikol Pashinyan.

"We value Armenian-Russian relations and attach great importance to their strategic nature," said Tevanyan.

He emphasized that the Armenian authorities have spoiled Armenian-Russian relations in a very clear and planned manner. He added that one of the tools for spoiling Armenian-Russian relations was the decision directed by Western Turkish circles, which was made on October 6, 2022 in Prague.

"According to that decision, Artsakh had to be surrendered so that the Russian peacekeeping mission would be completely excluded. That was a gross violation of the interests of the Republic of Armenia," said Tevanyan.

Let us recall that on September 16, 2024, the leader of the "Mother Armenia" opposition bloc, Andranik Tevanyan,  visited  the Donetsk People's Republic for the first time with a delegation and met with local parliamentarians.

No one has stopped the work of the trilateral commission at the level of the deputy prime ministers of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, although at this stage it is in a "dormant" state.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk told reporters this, answering the question of whether the trilateral working group will be dissolved, given that Armenia and Azerbaijan have begun to communicate directly with each other.

" First of all, it is very good that there is direct communication, it is very important. As for the trilateral working group of deputy prime ministers, it was created by a joint statement of the heads of state of the Russian Federation, Armenia and Azerbaijan... In essence, now it is in a "dormant" state, this can be noted, but we know that there are contacts between partners on this topic," Overchuk said.

According to him, no one has closed the committee, and "if partners contact us and we can be helpful in some way, and we can be helpful, then, of course, we will continue that work with pleasure ."

At the same time, he clarified that the issue of resuming the activities of the trilateral commission depends on the partners.

In January 2021 , Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev agreed to create a working group at the level of deputy prime ministers of the three countries. The main goal of the working group is to establish transport and economic ties in the region. The chairman of the group from the Russian side is Overchuk.
