The Prime Minister of the government of national unity of Libya, Abdel Hamid Dbeiba, removed the foreign minister and handed it over to monitoring organizations for investigation after the meeting of the foreign minister of his cabinet, Najla Mangush, with the Zionist foreign minister, Eli Cohen, in Rome. The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said in a statement that it emphasizes full commitment to the national positions on the issues of Arab and Islamic countries, the most important of which is the case of Palestine. The statement said that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in line with the Government's approach, refused to hold a meeting with any person representing the (regime) of Israel.

The Libyan Foreign Ministry also said that what happened in Rome was an informal and unprepared meeting that took place during a meeting with the Italian Foreign Minister. The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its complete and absolute opposition to the normalization of relations with the Israeli regime and stressed Tripoli's firm position on the Palestinian cause. Libyan groups, individuals and people on Sunday evening, in response to a meeting between the foreign minister of this country and the foreign minister of the Zionist regime, once again declared their opposition to a compromise with this regime. Meanwhile, after the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Libya with the Foreign Minister of the Zionist regime, the internal security service of this country forbade Najla Mangoush to leave.

Also, protesters and angry people in various Libyan cities, including the port cities of Zawiya and Tadjoura, burned the flag of the Zionist regime, demanded a trial of Najla Mangush, the Libyan government's foreign minister, and chanted slogans in support of Palestine. Libyan protesters blocked the city's main street and demanded an apology from the Libyan government. On the other hand, many Libyan political and parliamentary figures called the Libyan governing council responsible and demanded an explanation about this meeting. Khaled Al-Shammari, the former head of the Libyan Council of Ministers, condemned the meeting and called for the resignation of the government after a secret meeting of the Libyan authorities with the leaders of the Zionist regime. Saad bin Sharadeh, a member of the Supreme Government Council of Libya, said in this regard: "We want the heads of the presidential council and the government to present Mangush to the judiciary."

Also, a member of the Libyan parliament, Abdulsalam Nasieh, said: "We consider the presidential council responsible for the actions of Mangush in the post of Foreign Ministry." In this regard, the Libyan Presidential Council asked the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeiba, to explain the news of the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Foreign Minister of the Quds occupation regime. Earlier, the Zionist regime's Foreign Ministry announced a meeting between the regime's foreign minister, Eli Cohen, and Libya's foreign minister, Najla Mangoush, in Rome, Italy. The Foreign Ministry of the Zionist regime revealed the meeting between Mangush and Cohen last week and announced that due to the strategic position and size of Libya, relations with this country are of great importance and can bring a lot of energy to Israel.
