Republicans concerned about Biden's mental health
More than 60 Republicans from the US House of Representatives are demanding that American leader Joe Biden pass a mental test or refuse to participate in the presidential race. The congressmen's letter was distributed on Friday by the Fox News channel.
Lawmakers raised concerns about [Biden's] current cognitive state and his ability to serve another term as president after he announced his decision to run for reelection. "We believe that, regardless of gender, age, or political party, all presidents should document and demonstrate healthy mental capacity," 61 Republicans said in the letter.
“While you have had 2 physicals during your presidency, November 19, 2021 and February 16, 2023, there is no indication that you have taken any intelligence test, and if you did, the results were hidden from the public.” lawmakers continued.
In their opinion, the absence of a test of the president's mental abilities is a matter of concern to the American public. Congressmen recalled that since the beginning of Biden's presidency, they have already written three letters to him urging him to undergo an intelligence test, but have not received a response from the head of state.
“While you and your employees ignore these requests, the American people continue to doubt your mental and cognitive abilities and lose faith in your ability to lead the country,” the Republicans say. They cited the results of a Harvard University poll, according to which 57% of respondents do not consider Biden "mentally suitable for the presidency or doubt his mental abilities."
