Research Center: These are the factors that strengthen terrorism in Africa
A strategic research center has said that, terrorist gangs have expanded their activities in the Sahel region of Africa in recent months, and this situation is expected to increase in the coming months.
According to the Arab News Agency, the "Ab'ad" Center for Strategic Studies in Iran has said in its report that the actions of terrorist gangs in the countries of the Sahel region of Africa have increased in recent months, especially in the period the two months of April and May 2024 and especially in the countries of Burkina Faso, Mali and Nigeria.
Last May, a terrorist group announced its involvement in 50 terrorist attacks against the armed forces of Mali and Burkina Faso, while another terrorist group affiliated with Daesh (ISIS) has threatened to carry out more terrorist operations. According to the Ab'ad center, in the coming months the countries of Sahel Africa will witness more attacks by terrorist gangs, which those countries accuse the Western countries, especially the United States and France, of being the ones who finance these gangs.
The investigation of the center says that the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist gang is among the causes of the lack of peace and increased terrorist acts in the area since 2020.
According to the center, the weakness of the regional security forces has caused many military coups in the past years and that is another reason for the lack of security in the region. Another reason is the presence of imperialist forces, especially the United States and France, in the Sahel region of Africa, which are accused of supporting terrorist gangs, contrary to their claims to protect security.
