RSF: 54 journalists killed this year while working

The international organization Reporters Without Borders, RSF, has announced that at least 54 journalists have been killed around the world this year in circumstances related to their work.

The organization's annual report, released yesterday, stated that one-third of these journalists have been killed in the Gaza Strip .Another part of the RSF report said that so far the number of journalists killed, based on figures from late November, is similar to the level of the previous year .

The organization said reporting on war is extremely dangerous, and that 31 out of 54 journalists were killed in conflict zones . According to RSF, the number is the highest in five years .

The international organization Reporters Without Borders has been calling on the International Criminal Court (ICC), if possible, to investigate the killings of media workers as war crimes .

However, recently, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) announced that 2024 had been the "deadliest" year for journalists with 104 journalists killed worldwide, with more than half of them killed in the Gaza Strip .
