The UN Secretary-General has said he stands shoulder to shoulder with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and the people of Africa in the fight for justice in all arenas.

UN Secretary-General: I stand shoulder to shoulder with Africa in fighting for justice in all arenas

The UN Secretary-General has said he stands shoulder to shoulder with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and the people of Africa in the fight for justice in all arenas.

"Africa needs financial justice," said Antonio Guterres during a joint press conference with South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola in the capital, Pretoria.
 
Guterres also stressed that Africa needs climate justice, as it is on the front lines of addressing climate change, saying that although the continent emits relatively little greenhouse gas emissions, climate change is affecting it and weakening its economy.
 
The UN Secretary-General continued by stating: "Africa is warming faster than the global average," and added: "We must limit global warming to 1.5 degrees C to prevent this pandemic from spreading beyond control."
 
Once again, Guterres has stressed his support for Africa having two permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council.../
