The number of people who lost their lives in the city of Al-Hilaliya in the center of Al Jazirah state in Sudan, has increased to more than 200 following two weeks of siege and attacks by the RSF Rapid Support Forces.

According to the statement of the Union of Sudanese Doctors, the RSF increased its attacks in the city from October 25 and the number of people who lost their lives included those who died due to disease, hunger and torture.

The union has reported that there is a severe shortage of health services due to the siege of the city, noting that many residents have had to drink unsafe water and thus suffer from outbreaks.

The union's statement, which has not yet been answered by the RSF, also said: "The RSF forces are holding the residents of the town in several mosques and are not allowing them to leave unless they pay a large amount of money."

Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese Armed Forces SAF and the Rapid Support Forces RSF have been fighting a deadly war of power-hungry and have caused the deaths of more than 20,000 Sudanese and displaced more than 10 million others.

The United Nations and international organizations are urging an end to the war as it has pushed millions of Sudanese to the brink of starvation and death due to food shortages, while fighting continues in 13 of Sudan's 18 states.
