The civil institution has said that the fighters of the Rapid Support Force (RSF) last Friday invaded the town of Al-Kamelin area and started shooting indiscriminately from tall buildings. About 50 people were killed and hundreds of others were injured.

Reports say, in the town of Tamboul, north of Gezira, RSF fighters attacked and killed tens of civilians and displaced thousands of others.

Local groups say the attacks appear to have been fueled by anger after the RSF commander-in-chief rebelled and moved to the side of the Sudanese government's army. Abu Aqlah Keikel, the governor of Gezira province, surrendered to the Sudanese army in early October. Keikel is from Gezira province.

The Union of Doctors in Sudan has said that RSF attacks have turned the eastern Gezira areas into a "brutal war zone."
