The chairman of Sudan's Transitional Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, has appointed the head of the police force, Khaled Hassan Mouheiddine, as the country's interior minister. The statement of the Supreme Military Council of Sudan has said: "Al-Burhan has entrusted the Director General of the Police Forces, Khaled Hassan, with the work and responsibility of the Minister of the Interior." Al-Burhan's move came after he fired the previous interior minister, Anan Hamed Mohammed Omar, who was also the director general of the police. The action has been taken after the Chairman of the Transitional Council of Sudan, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan formed a committee to investigate war crimes, human rights violations and other crimes that he says are being committed by the Rapid Support Force (RSF) in the country.

The fighting between military generals who are vying for power has caused the Sudanese a great disaster. The statement from the office of General Al-Burhan has said that the committee has representatives from the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Army, the Police, the Department of Intelligence and the National Human Rights Commission. Sudan has been in the midst of intense internal fighting between the country's army and the Rapid Support Force (RSF) in Khartoum and other parts of Sudan since April 15, resulting in the deaths of more than 3,000 people and the injury of more than 6,000 others. That is according to the statistics of the Ministry of Health of Sudan. More than 3 million people have been forced to leave their homes, inside and outside the country, since the conflict broke out in Sudan in mid-April this year. That is according to United Nations statistics.
