A large explosion shakes the International Airport of the capital of Sudan
A large explosion rocked the International Airport of the capital of Sudan, Khartoum yesterday Saturday amid conflicting information about the causes of the explosion. Fire and heavy smoke could be seen rising in the air in the central area of Khartoum. The area has important institutions such as the airport, the presidential palace, and the High Command of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF). A person who witnessed the incident, who did not want to be named, said that the explosion occurred in the jet fuel warehouse inside the Khartoum International Airport after a fire broke out in the area. But another witness said that it happened near the presidential palace in the center of the capital. Clashes between the Sudanese Army, SAF and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continued yesterday Saturday in various areas of the capital, Khartoum.
The war between the military generals has caused serious damage to Sudan. The Sudanese army yesterday attacked several RSF centers in the south of Khartoum, using warplanes and war missiles. Sudan has been witnessing fierce armed clashes between the SAF and the RSF since April 15. Reports from the Ministry of Health of Sudan say that the fighting has already led to more than 3,000 people being killed and more than 6,000 injured. More than 4 million people have fled their homes, with 3.2 million being internally displaced within Sudan and nearly 900,000 fleeing to the neighboring countries of Chad, Egypt, South Sudan and other countries. That is according to the latest statistics of the United Nations.
