Russia calls on Azerbaijan and Armenia to refrain from provoking tension in the region

This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during the weekly press conference held on April 10, emphasizing that there are all the necessary mechanisms for ensuring peace and sustainable development in the South Caucasus.

"First of all, we are talking about the tripartite agreements of the parties, which were reached during the years 2020-2022. We consistently call on the parties to return to the format that justified them. From our side, we are always ready to show the necessary practical influence on the making of mutually acceptable decisions by Baku and Yerevan, including the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border," said Zakharova, again asserting that the role of the collective West in the South Caucasus, as shown in other regions experience will lead to disastrous consequences.

According to Zakharova, any controversial issue should be resolved with a constructive approach, compromise, and the principle of responsibility, which were agreed upon in Tehran on October 23, 2023 during the meeting held in the "3+3" format.

The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia issued a statement regarding the incident that took place on April 10 at the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border.

The statement said.

"S.t. On April 10, an incident took place in the Inner Khndzoresk section of the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border. The shepherd, who is a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, found himself in the territory of Azerbaijan while searching for a lost flock. Due to the situation, the border guards of both sides opened fire.

As a result of the incident, the Azerbaijani side has one injured. Border guard troops of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia are ready for a joint examination with the Border Guard troops of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Regardless of the joint examination, the RA Border Guard troops conduct their own examination and the results will be reported additionally. The question of why and how the shepherd and the flock crossed the border also needs to be clarified."

RA NSS informs that such incidents are not desirable for the Armenian side. It is also noted that the Azerbaijani side returned the lost flock. The pastor is also located in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
