In what is being described as the bloodiest attack in Russia in two decades, four men stormed the Crocus City Hall concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow last Friday and opened fire.
Later, the Russian security forces arrested and detained four suspects, who were seen being docked at the Basmanny District Court in Moscow.
The spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, has questioned the US claims and said in an article in the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda that, "A question for the White House: Are you sure that ISIS carried out the attack? You can think again ?"
Zakharova added that the United States is using the threat of the ISIS group to hide its actions in Kiev, and reminded readers that Washington supported and funded "Afghan fighters" who fought against Soviet forces in the 1980s.
For his part, the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, has refused to comment on ISIS' claims of involvement in the attack, saying, "The investigation is ongoing."
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin said earlier that 11 people have been arrested, including four who fled from the Crocus City Hall and headed for the Bryansk area, intending to cross the border and enter Ukraine.
