Russia: French units in Ukraine would be prime targets
Any French military unit sent to Ukraine would be a prime target, Russia's foreign intelligence chief has said.
"The French contingent will become the main and legitimate target for attacks by the Russian armed forces," said Sergei Naryshkin.
"This means that the fate of all the French who have ever come to the territory of the Russian world would await this contingent," he added.
Last month, French President Emmanuel Macron said he would not rule out the idea of sending European troops to Ukraine - although he warned that "no consensus" has been reached among the allies.
"Nothing should be ruled out," Macron said, adding that "we will do everything necessary so that Russia does not win."
So far, Italy, Germany, the US and NATO have opposed the possibility of sending their troops to Ukraine.
