Russian Foreign Minister: Kyiv Failed Negotiations with Moscow
The Russian Foreign Minister announced that Ukraine would destroy the success of the two countries' peace talks by postponing them. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced Tuesday (12/9/2023) that Ukraine reduced the chances of reaching a bilateral agreement by delaying coming to the negotiating table. Lavrov stressed that the longer Kyiv delays negotiations with Moscow, the more difficult it will be to reach an agreement in the future. Alluding to the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said that Moscow is not avoiding negotiations with Ukraine, Lavrov emphasized that the first step in dialogue between Russia and Ukraine would be the cancellation of the decree banning dialogue with Moscow.
Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree banning any negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin's government. The Russian ambassador in Washington, responding to America's new sanctions package against his country, said that Washington's sanctions would not make Moscow stop protecting its national interests. The United States and Western countries since Russia's attack on Ukraine on February 24 2022 have imposed broad sanctions on Moscow and sent billions of dollars worth of weapons and military equipment to Kiev. Sputnik News Agency reported that Anatoly Antonov, Russia's ambassador in Washington regarding the new package of US sanctions against Moscow, said, "The time has come for Washington to realize that the whirlwind of sanctions will have no impact and that our country will never stop protecting its national interests."
While explaining that by continuing sanctions, America hopes to bring down the Russian economy, Antonov added, the Russia and Africa meetings, BRICS and the latest G20 summit show that we have many supporters, who are of the same mind as us in this area. On Thursday local time, US President Joe Biden's administration imposed sanctions on five companies and a Turkish citizen for allegedly helping Russia evade sanctions and supporting Moscow in its war against Ukraine, which is part of the US government's broad sanctions against Russia covering 150 Russian institutions.
