Russian Foreign Ministry urges citizens not to travel to the US

The Russian Foreign Ministry is urging Russians to refrain from private and business trips to the United States and its allied countries due to the risk of arbitrary detention by US authorities. According to "RT", this was announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a briefing.

"In the context of the growing confrontation in Russian-American relations, which are on the verge of collapse due to the fault of official Washington, traveling to the United States for private or official reasons is fraught with serious dangers," Zakharova was quoted as saying by the Interfax agency.

Zakharova noted that the department has repeatedly addressed this issue, but this is the first time that a direct appeal has been made on this issue by the Foreign Ministry.

Zakharova emphasized that in addition to the "extremely strict and discriminatory" procedure for issuing American visas to Russian citizens, "our compatriots have long been, in the literal sense of the word, the object of hunting by the American authorities, primarily by the US intelligence services."

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman noted that the United States attracts Russians under various pretexts, such as tourist offers, and when they travel abroad, the "targeted" Russians are arrested and handed over to US jurisdiction.

"In this regard, we strongly urge you to continue to refrain from non-urgent travel to the United States of America and its allied countries during the upcoming holidays, including primarily Canada and, with a few exceptions, the countries of the European Union," Zakharova said.

In addition, the Russian Foreign Ministry recommends that while abroad, you avoid situations where you may become a "victim of provocation" or be arrested under the pretext of violating local laws.
