The American newspaper "Washington Post" stated in its published report: "Syrian terrorists and rebels have received drones and other support from Ukraine for their recent operations in that country."
The American newspaper "Washington Post", citing sources familiar with the military activities of Ukraine, found out that the intelligence organization of this country sent drones, about 20 operators with experience in controlling them, and about 150 drones equipped with cameras to the city of Idlib in northern Syria about 4-5 weeks ago to help the terrorist group "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham". As Pars Today writes, Western intelligence sources are convinced that Kiev's assistance played an important role in the fall of Damascus to the terrorists.
According to this report, Ukraine’s support for terrorists in Syria is clear to everyone, even though senior Biden administration officials have repeatedly said they were unaware of it. Kiev’s motive is clear. In order to counter Russian attacks on its territory, Ukraine’s intelligence agency is looking for other fronts where it can strike Russia and weaken its allies. The Ukrainians have already exposed this plan earlier.
In an article published on June 3, the Kyiv Post newspaper, citing a source in the Ukrainian military intelligence service known as “JUR,” stated: “Since the beginning of this year, Syrian terrorists and rebels, with the support of Ukraine, have carried out numerous attacks on Russian military facilities in the region.”
The newspaper also wrote: "The operations in Syria were carried out under the coordination of the JUR intelligence service's "Chemical" unit." Russian officials have also for months addressed the efforts of Ukrainian agents disguised as militias in Syria.
Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy for Syria, Alexander Lavrentyev, told TASS in November: "We have information that specialists from the Ukrainian intelligence service are present in the Syrian city of Idlib."
In September, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made a similar statement about the presence of "Ukrainian intelligence agents" in Idlib, Syria, saying: "They are involved in carrying out "dirty operations," and the head of the JUR, Krylo Budanov, is personally connected to the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group."
Before terrorists and the armed opposition took control of Syria, Russian officials said that by engaging with these elements, Ukraine intended to recruit terrorists to fight against Moscow.
The website "Creidel" stated in its report in September: "As part of a deal, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham was offered the supply of 75 drones in exchange for receiving military forces from this group."
The Washington Post concluded this report by saying: “Ukrainian covert operations in Syria, like their incursion into Africa and their attack on Russia’s Kursk region, reflect Ukraine’s efforts to expand the battlefield and harm Russia.”
