Senator Graham: US failed miserably because Iran is not afraid of them
Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham criticized President Joe Biden's administration on Sunday night, saying its policies on Iran have not been effective because the Islamic Republic does not fear America.
During an interview with Fox News, Graham criticized the US government for its general policies in West Asia. "If the goal is to create deterrence against Iran, you have failed miserably, and if the goal is to protect American troops in the region, you have not achieved that either," he warned, addressing the administration of President Joe Biden. The South Carolina senator also called for a change in policies aimed at intimidating others without naming any country, adding that hitting hundreds of targets is not important, a reference to recent US airstrikes in Iraq and Syria in what Washington said were in response to a deadly attack on a US base in Jordan. "If you have convinced Iran that you are not looking for a large-scale war, they have believed and received this message, but they are not afraid of us," he reacted to repeated statements by American officials that their country does not was looking for a conflict or war with Iran. The US faced widespread criticism and denunciations of these attacks, including from the Iraqi and Syrian governments who called the aggression a violation of their sovereignty. Republicans in the United States, however, considered these measures insufficient.
