South Africa: 18 killed in two mass shootings
Eighteen people have been killed in police shootings in Limpopu province in north-eastern South Africa. According to AFP, police said they were targeting suspects who tried to attack a car's car. South African police said in a statement that as police approached, the suspect began shooting and police responded to the shooting. It took an hour and a half in the shooting, with 16 men and two women dead. Fanny Masmula, police commissioner in Limpopo province, about 2 kilometers northeast of Johannesburg, told reporters that a police officer had been seriously injured.
The police said we would stop them before they did. Last year, ten suspects who attempted to seize a vehicle in cash were killed after shooting at the police helicopter and wounding the pilot. In May, South African police Bahaki Sol indicated a 5% increase in cash attacks, which was recorded in the first three months of the year. Crime statistics, which are provided live by South African police every three months, have made it one of the countries with the highest crime rate in the world in recent months.
