South Korea claims: North Korean soldiers are fighting side by side with Russia Ukraine
Kim Yong-hyun has told South Korean politicians it is "highly likely" that six North Korean officers were killed in a Ukrainian missile attack near Donetsk on October 3, as reported last week by Ukrainian media.

The claims are made as Pyongyang and Moscow further strengthen their bilateral relations. North Korea has previously denied accusations that it is supplying weapons to Russian forces in the conflict between it and Ukrainian forces.

The Minister of Defense of South Korea has continued to say: "based on several circumstances, we are evaluating reports of a high probability of casualties among North Korean officers and soldiers in Ukraine" and added that, Seoul expects Pyongyang to send more troops to help Russia in the war between them and Ukraine.

In June, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a comprehensive strategic partnership that includes a mutual defense agreement between the two countries.

South Korea, supported by the United States, claims that Pyongyang has become the main supplier of weapons used by Russia in Ukraine. However, Pyongyang and Moscow have denied the claims.
