British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, on the eve of national elections in this country, has unveiled the draft plan for compulsory military service, according to which all young British men will be forced to either participate in 12-month military service or join the national voluntary service plan. According to the "Daily Mail" newspaper, the British Prime Minister announced: "With the changes we are going to make to conscription in England, under this plan, all young British 18-year-olds will be included in this conscription and you I promise that if the Conservative Party wins again, this plan will be implemented."
Regarding his plan, which is modeled after systems already in place across Europe, Sunak explained: "Young British people have a choice between joining a full-time service scheme for a year and a half in the Army British or join a voluntary service scheme to serve 25 days in the Rescue Department and other departments at weekends.
Commanders of the British military and law enforcement forces have repeatedly asked the government to take action on the shortage of personnel in these departments, despite numerous recruitment announcements as well as increases in wages and welfare services for their service.
According to the Daily Mail, if the Tories are re-elected in the general election, a royal commission will be set up to finalize the details of the recruitment plan and this plan will be implemented from September next year (2025).
