Syria, Daesh attacks army buses, 20 soldiers killed
The Daesh terrorist group (ISIS) ambushed a Syrian army bus in the province of Deir Ezzor, ... in the east of the country, killing at least 20 soldiers. More than 10 Syrian soldiers were injured, some of them in critical condition. This was reported by local media. According to the so-called London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, this attack is the bloodiest in recent weeks: last Monday 10 government soldiers were killed in a similar ambush east of Raqqa, in the north of the country.
On August 1, 7 people, including five soldiers from Damascus, were killed in an attack on a convoy of trucks carrying fuel. ISIS also claimed responsibility for an attack carried out on July 27 near Damascus against a stronghold of pro-Iranian Shiite jihadists and in which 6 people were killed. Mercenary groups sponsored by the US and allies have in recent weeks intensified their attacks in central and eastern Syria, the same areas it partially controlled at the height of Daesh's expansionary capacity between 2014 and 2016.
