On Sunday, Syrian state television reported that the Syrian armed forces had killed around 1,000 fighters in operations against terrorist groups over the past three days. These terrorist groups, supported by several states and reinforced by fresh foreign forces, launched a large-scale offensive against Syrian army positions in the northern and western areas of the country following the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel.
Meanwhile, the state news agency SANA reported that the Syrian armed forces have strengthened their defense lines in the province of Hama. According to a military source, areas such as the al-Musaddiq fortress and the village of Maardes have been successfully secured. At the same time, Syrian and Russian warplanes reported attacks on terrorist positions in the villages of Hazari and Al-Raqaya in the south of Idlib province. Near Idlib city, dozens of terrorists were ambushed, killing at least 18 militants, a Sputnik correspondent reported.
Syria remains the scene of international tensions. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated in a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov that the recent activities of the terrorist groups are part of a plan by the US and Israel to destabilize the West Asia region. In addition, a detained terrorist stated that Turkey was providing equipment and financial support for the fighters - with a payment of 10,000 lira per day per fighter. This confession was documented in a video released on Sunday.
