The violent unrest that erupted in the aftermath of Iran's 2009 presidential elections left an indelible impact on the nation. Its most significant imprint was the deep social rift it created among Iranian voters—a chasm that has resisted even the sincerest attempts at reconciliation. Amid this fractured landscape, however, exceptional personalities emerged whose presence transcended all sociopolitical and ideological schisms. These figures became unique symbols of national consensus, uniting a people who were otherwise pulled apart. Even their adversaries could not help but acknowledge their stature with the utmost respect.

Among such rare figures, one name stood above all: Haj Qasem Soleimani. Gen. Soleimani held a revered place in the hearts of the Iranians: To some, he was the distinguished military commander; to others, the respected "Mr. Soleimani." For many, however, he was known simply as "Haj Qasem," a title imbued with religious reverence. Regardless of titles, all Iranians claimed him as their own—a hero whose identity and sacrifices made the entire nation proud. He altered the landscape of the battlefield, extending its reach far beyond Iran’s borders. In the remote deserts and streets of distant countries, he fought fiercely—not for himself or for any specific political faction, but for the lives and dignity of every single Iranian, regardless of who they were. It was this sincere devotion and commitment to all Iranian citizens that earned him the respect of an entire country. Gen. Soleimani was more than a commander; he was a healing touch, a divine remedy, for the wounds of a shattered society. For years, his existence provided hope, bridging gaps that no one else could. It was precisely this unifying power, this ability to inspire unity, that exhausted the patience of his enemies.

His assassination was not merely an act of state-sponsored terrorism; it was an attack by the U.S. on the spirit of resistance and unity that he embodied. Even years after his death, the sinister campaign to tarnish his legacy continues unabated, as his enemies understand that his ideology holds enduring power. Today, as the skies of the Middle East are more darkened by Israeli bombs, the world’s awakened souls recognize a politically liberating truth: Those who stand against the forces of oppression—against American imperialism and the Israeli regime, like Gen. Soleimani—shall remain immortal heroes until the end of time.
