In a statement published on the X social network, Moussa Faki Mahamati has asked those who committed the crime to immediately return the kidnapped children to their families. He went on to say that the act is a sign that the threat of terrorism and livestock theft are issues that threaten not only the security of the northern region of Nigeria, but the entire region and even neighboring countries and it is something that saddens everyone in Africa.' This comes at a time when 15 students were kidnapped on Saturday, in Gada area, in Sokoto state, northern Nigeria. The local MP has said that the attack happened at dawn, where the fighters also kidnapped four women. On Thursday last week, about 300 students were kidnapped by gunmen who used motorcycles to attack a public school in Kaduna state. In addition, previously dozens of women who were in the camp of internally displaced persons in Borno state, were captured while the authorities in the country feared that they might become slaves of the group's fighters during the holy month of Ramadan. The Nigerian Army is leading the security forces in an operation to search for the hostages who are said to be hidden in the forests in the north of the country, while devices such as drones are being sent to conduct further investigations in the known hiding places of the group to try to return the children.
