The Council of Europe has approved sanctions on six companies allegedly involved in financing the war in Sudan, where the country's defense forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Force (RSF) have been fighting since April last year.
The Council of Europe said on Monday that the six institutions have been involved in financing activities and actions that undermine security and political stability in Sudan. Among the institutions mentioned by the Council of Europe are two companies involved in the production of weapons and vehicles for the SAF (Defense Industries System and SMT Engineering); The company Zadna International for Investment Limited controlled by the Sudanese army and three companies involved in the purchase of military equipment for the Rapid Support Force (RSF) namely (Al Junaid Multi Activities Co Ltd, Tradive General Trading and GSK Advance Company Ltd). The statement of the Council of Europe has noted that: Bloodshed has continued to increase in Sudan despite the efforts of the international community to end the fighting in the country. At least 7.5 million Sudanese citizens have been forced to leave their homes following the war that engulfed the country.
