BBC: the fishing boat with the migrants on board remained stationary for seven hours before capsizing
The fishing boat that sank off the coast of Pylos, in the Peloponnese, in Greece, between Tuesday and last Wednesday would have remained stationary for at least seven hours before capsizing and sinking. This is what is reported by the British television station "BBC" which claims to have obtained evidence that would cast doubt on the sources' report from the Greek coastguard regarding the shipwreck which, officially, caused the death of 78 people, while hundreds more are dispersed.
The BBC has obtained a computer animation of tracking data provided by MarineTraffic, a maritime analytics platform. These data show the activities that took place during several events in the area where the boat full of migrants sank. The analysis of this material seems to cast doubt on the official version, according to which the ship would have had no navigation problems.
The data from the platform, cross-referenced with the Lucky Sailor ship's logbook, show that the fishing vessel had been in trouble since last Tuesday afternoon, despite the weather conditions not being adverse. Another ship, the Faithful Warrior, several hours later, also approached the fishing vessel and supplied water to the people on board via a rope.
