On the 7th of March, around 300 school children, some of them high school students and school staff were abducted in the town of Kuriga in Kaduna State in northwestern Nigeria.

This has been confirmed by Jubril Aminu, the adviser of the federal government of the area who is also the spokesperson of the families of the hostages and added that the militants have given a deadline for the compensation to be paid within 20 days otherwise they will kill all the students and staff.

But Nigeria's Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, has announced the president's order in front of the media in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, and stressed that President Tinubu has strongly opposed the release of any hostages and instead has called for joint efforts between the security agencies. to free the captives.

Likewise, Minister Idris has emphasized the government's commitment to reconsider the issue of negotiating with kidnappers, saying that President Tinubu is against negotiating with these criminal gangs because he believes that negotiations encourage more acts of kidnapping.

The abduction follows another major abduction of female students carried out by the terrorist group Boko Haram a few years ago. At the end of the last month of February, there was also another abduction of students and caused concern in all corners of Nigeria.
