The leader of the opposition in the DRC, Fayulu, has confirmed that he will run for the presidency
The senior leader of the opposition in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Martin Fayulu, confirmed yesterday Saturday in Kinshasa that he will run in the December 20 presidential election. he told reporters.
"We will continue to fight for transparency in the elections.
We did not have the opportunity to review the voter register but we will be vigilant during the voting", added the opponent who says his victory was stolen during the December 2018 presidential election where Tshisekedi was declared the winner. By July 2022, his party Ecidé (Citizen Participation and Development), which belongs to the Lamuka coalition, had announced Martin Fayulu as its official candidate in the next presidential election. Fayulu claims that out of the 43.9 million registered voters, there will be "10 million fake votes".
He said this time there will be no vote theft as they will prepare to face any attempt to use fake voters. Fayulu insists that there was vote rigging in the 2018 presidential election, where he came second. DRC President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi's Fayulu Party for Citizen Participation and Development, which is part of Muungano Lamuka, says the list of voters is incorrect and has currently refused to participate in parliamentary, regional and local elections.
The party claims that of the 43.9 million voters on the electoral roll, some 10 million are "fictitious". Recently, the President of the DRC Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi speaking at the General Assembly of the United Nations, said that the general election in the country will be held as planned at the end of this year 2023.
