On October 25, the Ambassador of the European Union to Azerbaijan Pyotr Mikhalko was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country. As reported by the APA agency, with reference to the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, the resolution adopted by the European Parliament on October 24, as well as the "groundless and biased" opinions expressed by the European Commissioner during the discussions held in this structure, were strongly condemned.
P. Mikhalko was given a protest note. It was emphasized that the continuation of the slanderous campaign against Azerbaijan through various EU structures, the statements and steps violating Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the interference in the country's internal affairs encourage "revanchism" in Armenia and thus harm efforts to establish peace in the region.
It was mentioned in the complaint that Azerbaijan builds its relations with the European Union on the basis of norms and principles of international law, mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, and calls on the EU to strictly observe these fundamental principles. In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan demanded from the EU to refrain from prejudicial steps that violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, undermine peace and stability in the region, as well as interfere in the country's internal affairs," the publication said.
Let's remind that the hysterical reaction of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry is related to the resolution adopted by the European Parliament yesterday.
The European Parliament called on Baku to release Armenian prisoners and ensure the safe return of Armenians to Nagorno Karabakh.
