The South African president wants the world to pressure Israel to stop the attacks in Gaza, Lebanon
The President of South Africa yesterday asked the leaders of various countries in the world to pressure the Israeli government to stop its attacks in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
"We call for an immediate cessation of killings and attacks in Gaza. The release of hostages and also to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches the people", said President Cyril Ramaphosa addressing supporters of the ruling party ANC in Johannesburg celebrating 100 days of his being in power.
The ANC, which has led South Africa since 1994, lost many seats in parliament in the national elections held in May this year and thus had to form a coalition government.
Ramaphosa has stated that in the next few days his government will present its full case in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in support of the Palestinian people against the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people especially in Gaza.
He has said that his government will ensure that it continues to help the Palestinian people.
South Africa presented its case to the court in The Hague at the end of last year accusing Israel, which has been carrying out genocide and brutal killings in the Gaza Strip since October last year, for failing to fulfill its commitments in accordance with the Genocide Convention of the year 1948.
