The executive director of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), Cindy McCain, announced that the food supply situation in the northern part of Gaza has caused famine.
As "Armenpress" reports, citing "RIA Novosti", the Executive Director of the United Nations Development Program stated this in an interview with the NBC TV channel.
"I can point out that now there is a famine in the north, a complete famine, and it is moving south," he said.
McCain stressed that while there has been no official announcement of a famine yet, based on what his organization's staff have seen and experienced, he believes there is a full-blown problem in Gaza.
He also expressed hope that there will be a ceasefire in the near future, which will allow the population to get food much faster.
