The United Nations has said that more than 1,200 children have died from measles and malnutrition in refugee camps in Sudan. The UN said this yesterday Tuesday and warned that thousands of other children, including those born, are at risk of losing their lives by the end of this year, if emergency measures to save the lives of the children in the camp are not taken. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has announced that thousands of Sudanese children need $400 million in aid to survive. Likewise, the Save the Children organization said in its latest statement that, since April this year, at least 498 children, and probably hundreds more, have died of hunger in Sudan.

This is in a situation where fierce fighting continues between the Sudanese Army forces and the RSF Rapid Support Forces, especially in the capital Khartoum. Fighting in Sudan The armed conflict in Sudan started on April 15 this year, the source being a dispute over power; and international mediation efforts to end the fighting by bringing the two sides to the negotiating table have so far been fruitless. The war has resulted in the deaths of at least 5,000 people, most of them civilians, and more than 12,000 injured. More than five million other Sudanese have been forced to flee their homes due to the fighting.
