Thousands of children are suffering from pneumonia in Pakistan
The relevant Health officials have reported from Pakistan that more than 19,000 children in the province of Punjab in the northeast of the country have been diagnosed with pneumonia after being tested in the last one month.
The officials have explained that many children are suffering from pneumonia because of the cold weather, smoke and dust. Jamal Nasir High Level Health Officer in Punjab province in Pakistan has explained that this pneumonia disease affects children and even adults in that province every year. He said, every year 55,000 to 60,000 children lose their lives due to the disease in Pakistan; and this is not the first time such a large number of children's deaths caused by pneumonia has been witnessed in Pakistan. Jamal Nasir has encouraged parents to take their children to health centers to be vaccinated against pneumonia. He said, vaccination against pneumonia is given in the entire province of Punjab and that parents should ensure that their children are vaccinated against the disease. Pakistan has been hit by a severe cold wave with the central and northern parts of the country witnessing heavy rain and snow recently. It is worth pointing out here that pneumonia is an infection in the lungs. Often this disease is caused by bacteria or viruses. It is a disease that affects the respiratory system. Pneumonia infection in the lungs Children but also adults can suffer from this disease. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 740,000 children under the age of five have died from pneumonia in 2019.
