In response to the bloody incidents in the country on New Year's Eve, US President-elect Donald Trump said the situation in the US was catastrophic and accused the incumbent president of pursuing an "open border" policy.
On Wednesday morning local time, New Year's Day in New Orleans, a truck driver drove into a crowd of people celebrating the New Year. The attack left at least 15 people dead and 35 injured. Meanwhile, a car bomb in front of President-elect Donald Trump's hotel in Las Vegas left one dead and eight injured.
Representatives from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Police are trying to trace the connection between the events in New Orleans and Las Vegas, as well as to investigate the possible role of terrorism in these two events.
Also on Wednesday evening, January 1, 11 people were injured in a shooting in the Queens area of New York.
The New York police said three to four men have been charged with the shooting and efforts to locate them are ongoing.
According to a report by AP, Trump said on Thursday that bloody incidents occur when the country has open borders and weak and ineffective leadership, so there is virtually no leadership.
Blaming various departments and agencies of the American government, Trump said: "The Department of Justice, the FBI, and the state and local Democrats have not done their jobs; they are incompetent and corrupt, and instead of focusing on protecting Americans from the violence that has permeated the American government and nation in every dimension, they spend all their time illegally attacking their political opponents."
Trump claimed: "America is falling apart and collapsing, and the Democrats should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen to America, and there is a violent destruction of safety, national security, and democracy all across our country."
US President Joe Biden, who is spending the final days of his presidency, said in response to the bloody events on New Year's Eve that relevant organizations are investigating a possible connection between the terrorist attack in New Orleans and the car bombing in Las Vegas.
