Turkey arrested 34 people suspected of being spies for the Israeli Mossad organization
Security agencies in Turkey have arrested 34 people on suspicion of being involved in espionage activities and planning kidnappings on behalf of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.
Officials said on Friday 57 locations were raided in Istanbul and seven other regions, where the spies were arrested while the search continued as there were 12 others who escaped. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said authorities took action immediately after determining that the Mossad was planning to carry out "activities to gather information, search, attack and kidnap foreign citizens living in our country". Videos of some of the Turkish attacks released by the Turkish Interior Ministry showed police raiding homes and handcuffing suspects. The Istanbul General Prosecutor's Office conducted an investigation that revealed that nine people had sold information to the Mossad. They were hired to spy on Palestinians living in Turkey as well as Israeli activists who support the Zionist regime. The report comes weeks after the head of Israel's intelligence agency, Shin Bet, was quoted as saying that his agency was ready to destroy Hamas "everywhere," including in Lebanon, Turkey and Qatar. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has previously warned Israel that it will "have to pay a heavy price" if it continues its intention to target Hamas officials on Turkish soil.
