In their statement issued in Geneva, the experts have stated that they have received sad reports that despite journalists wearing jackets, hats and being in vehicles to identify them as the media, they have still been attacked and killed, the act that they describe appears to be a strategy of the purpose of the Israeli forces to block the media and silence the release of important reports. "We pay special tribute to the courage of journalists and media workers in Gaza who continue to put their lives at risk every day while they are at work, while also enduring great hardships and losing their colleagues, friends and family,"  said the experts. The experts are  Irene Khan  , United Nations expert on issues of freedom of expression and opinion,  Francesca Albanese , expert on human rights in the land of Palestine,  Mary Lawlor,  United Nations Special Expert on the conditions of human rights defenders human,  Tidball-Binz  who is the United Nations Special Expert on killings and arbitrary arrests and  Ben Saul  the United Nations Special Expert on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.

In their statement, the UN experts have urged the parties involved in the Gaza war to allow and ensure a quick, independent and impartial investigation of every journalist's murder in accordance with international standards, especially the United Nations Protocol of Minnesota on a possible wrongful death investigation. The statement issued by the United Nations human rights office OHCHR reminded that journalists have the right to be protected as citizens under international humanitarian law and that "targeted attacks and the killing of journalists are war crimes". The experts have expressed their great concern for Israel as it has refused to allow the media from outside Gaza to enter and report what is happening unless the permission is given if the journalists are joined by the forces of the Zionist regime. In the conclusion of their statement, the UN human rights experts have asked the International Court of Justice ICJ and the International Criminal Court ICC to consider and stop the dangerous pattern of attacks and impunity for crimes against journalists, which has increased since October 7 targeting and killing Palestinian journalists.../
