Nidal Kablan, the former Syrian ambassador to Ankara, said: Bashar al-Assad, the country's president, will meet with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan only if he agrees to Syria's basic conditions, the most important of which is Turkey's withdrawal from this country.

The Syrian authorities, including Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, have said that until these forces leave, we cannot talk about improving relations.Under the pretext of fighting terrorists, the Turkish army has been occupying parts of the north and northeast of Syria for about 3 years and is still present in these areas.

In an interview with Sputnik news agency, Keblan said: "The real decision remains with the Turkish government, which must withdraw from the occupied Syrian lands in the north and northwest, and this is a non-negotiable condition for Syria."

He also stated that Turkey's withdrawal from Syria is the main condition for the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and it is impossible to restore these relations before the end of the Turkish occupation of Syria.

He previously mentioned other conditions, including ending Turkish support for terrorist groups, opening border crossings between the two countries, and restoring Syrian control of the M4 strategic road.
