Without this support, he warned of the possibility of strategic setbacks, including potential advances by Russian forces towards major cities.

Despite appeals from Democratic President Joe Biden, US military aid for Ukraine has been delayed in the Republican-controlled US House of Representatives, with House Speaker Mike Johnson citing domestic priorities. Zelensky stressed the importance of swift approval of the aid package during a recent telephone conversation with Johnson.

The ongoing conflict has seen Ukraine compensating for shortages of munitions with domestically-produced weaponry and air defense systems, but Zelensky acknowledged that these efforts are insufficient. As Russia escalates attacks on critical infrastructure, including energy facilities, Ukrainian forces have faced challenges in making significant advancements. Zelensky disclosed Kyiv's intention to target Russian infrastructure, including oil refineries, as part of its defense strategy.

Regarding Washington's response to Ukrainian attacks, Zelensky expressed disappointment but affirmed Kyiv's determination to defend its interests, including utilizing drones for reconnaissance. He questioned why Ukraine should not retaliate against Russian aggression targeting energy infrastructure and emphasized the need for Russia to halt such actions for de-escalation to occur
