Ukrainian army denies Bakhmut's case
The Ukrainian army has denied the fall of the town of Bakhmut and said it had repelled many attacks by Russian troops.
According to AFP, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army announced early Monday that it was still in control of Bakhmut and many Russian attacks had been repelled.The Ukrainian army wrote in a message on Facebook: "The enemy did not stop the attack on Bakhmut. But the Ukrainian defenders held the city."
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head and co-founder of the Russian paramilitary group Wagner, said Sunday Bakhmut was legally manned and Russian forces were concentrated in the western regions.He also announced that the Russian flag was raised over the building of the Bakhmut commune.
Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine is one of the main trouble spots between the Ukrainian and Russian armies.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently warned that the fall of Bakhmut paves the way for Russia to seize key cities in eastern Ukraine.
