New data collected by two United Nations organizations have shown that there is a need for an additional investment of 360 billion dollars per year to achieve gender equality and women's empowerment by 2030. and UNDESA, which is the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, have launched their annual report that evaluates how the 17 SDGs are being implemented based on gender equality. This year's research involved 116 countries, and among other things, it focused on elderly women, where the report showed that this group in society faces high levels not only of poverty and lack of pension, but also violence, compared to elderly men.

The Deputy Executive Director of UN WOMEN Mrs. Sarah Hendriks has said that this year's report is a great call to action considering that the neglect of the SDGs has reached half of the planned time before reaching the peak in 2030. It is stated in this year's report of Umoja of Nations that despite the issue of gender equality being discussed on major platforms, especially decision-makers, the gender gap in power and leadership positions is still entrenched, and at the current rate of development, the report said, the next generation of women will continue spend an average of 2.3 more hours per day unpaid doing housework than men. The report also calls for an inclusive and holistic approach, greater collaboration between stakeholders, sustainable funding, and policy measures to address the gender gap and empower women and girls worldwide; concluding that failing to prioritize gender equality right now could jeopardize the entire 2030 Agenda for SDGs.../
