The United Nations has said that, since the beginning of this year until now, it has registered more than 350,000 Sudanese refugees and people seeking asylum in North Africa, while 97,000 migrants have entered Libya since April last year.

It is important to take into account that these migration challenges do not originate in North Africa. Therefore, there is a need for a quick investigation of the source of these challenges starting from the roots of the journey. This has been said by Sivanka Dhanapala, Director of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Similarly, Sivanka Dhanapala has said that, between January and August this year, it is estimated that more than 134,000 refugees and migrants left by sea from northern and western Africa towards Europe. The number has decreased slightly compared to last year's number of refugees and immigrants.

For his part, Par Liljert, the Director of the International Organization for Migration has submitted a short report to the United Nations Security Council saying that, the things that make people leave their homes and residences and engage in the severe challenges they face while trying to move to places others are serious challenges right now that need to be taken strong and fast steps to deal with them.
