UN experts in their report said that black people in the United States had to deal with systematic racism and racial discrimination carried out by law enforcement officials. Quoted by the Washington Post newspaper, Friday (29/9/2023) the UN experts said this report was released after an investigation carried out regarding protests over the murder of George Floyd in 2021.

In their report, UN experts revealed that female prisoners were forced to give birth while shackled, and they had to hand over their babies to the state several hours after birth.According to the findings of the UN Human Rights Council, based on data collected by UN experts from five prisons in the US, and after meeting officials and obtaining direct testimony from 130 prisoners, it is proven that black inmates face human rights violations.

The UN experts explained that in US prisons, which are mostly populated by black people, inmates are required to do forced labor."This country must implement a human rights-based approach to overcome the lack of trust among people of African descent in law enforcement and the justice system, especially due to ongoing and systematic violence by law enforcement officers," he added. The UN experts also demanded that the US government eradicate poverty and racial injustice and reduce levels of police violence.
