UNRWA chief: Gazas'man-made' famine is averted by allowing aid to enter
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNRWA) has said that the severe famine in the Gaza Strip can be avoided if aid is allowed to enter the area.
Philippe Lazzarini has explained in a message posted on the X website that the last time UNRWA was able to deliver food aid to northern Ghazza was on January 23. Lazzarini added by saying: "Since then, we, together with other United Nations agencies, have warned about the increasing hunger, we asked for humanitarian aid to be delivered at all times, and we said that hunger can be avoided if more food convoys are allowed to go to the north Ghazza". Philippe Lazzarini The UNRWA commissioner has explained that their calls to send food aid to Ghazza have been rejected and fell on deaf ears. Lazzarini has made it clear that the disaster is man-made, reminding that the world promised not to allow famine to occur again and he added that the famine in Ghazza can still be avoided through true political will that will enable opening the way and provide protection to deliver effective aid . The UNRWA High Commissioner has said: "The coming days will again test our humanity and our human values." The Zionist regime of Israel has been accused of committing genocide in the International Court of Justice (ICJ). An interim ruling issued by the court in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop the acts of genocide and to take measures to ensure that humanitarian aid is provided and delivered to civilians in Gaza.
